The youth of our church are thinking about their future and would like to ask you some questions! 

When you are considering major life choices about future careers or educational opportunities, you generally seek counsel from family members.  But what if no one in your family is an electrician, or a radiology technician, or an engineer?  What if you don’t know anyone who attended Miami University, or Kent State?  We would like to create a church family database of people who are willing to share their professional or educational experiences with other church members.  This database takes two tracks (described below).  The information provided will be kept in a database maintained by the Youth Minister.  When a student is looking for information on Baldwin-Wallace or wondering where to get training to become a carpenter, they can search the database for anyone who might have the appropriate experience.  The student will then contact Nate to get information on how to contact that person further and more information about their experience.  There will be sign-up forms on the website to have your information entered into the database but only limited information from the  database itself will be on the website to protect your contact information.  Sign-up forms are also available at the Welcome Center. 

Database types:

College or program of study evaluation database—This is a database of people who have attended a particular college, university, or trade school.  Current or recently graduated students and/or their parents can provide information on the school experience including the overall impression of the academic environment, the safety of the campus, or the quality of the food plan.

Professional information—This is a database of people who would be willing to share their professional experiences (past and present).  These individuals would be willing to explain what it’s like to work all day building houses, reading x-rays, creating financial statements, or whatever a job may throw your way in a given field.  They can also provide advice on what type of education and training would be involved in obtaining a job in a given field.
