Welcome to Avon Lake United Church of Christ

 

We are a congregation that believes Christian faith should be intelligent, helpful in daily life - a source of comfort and courage, of joy and excitement!

We draw closer to God through worship, service, education and social activities. If you are looking for a church home, we invite you to join us for worship and participate in our activities.

We think of ourselves as a community church. So we open our doors to a number of groups including the Avon Lake Women's Chorus, Girl Scout, Cub Scouts and three weekly Alcoholics Anonymous groups. We are proud to be the home of the Jack-N-Jill Nursery School, the largest preschool in Avon Lake, providing quality education for three through five year olds.

The Good Neighbor Thrift Shop is an outreach ministry of this congregation. The store on the corner of Lear Road and Electric Blvd offers affordable, quality resale merchandise to shoppers and is staffed largely by volunteers.

Program planning and business life of the church is coordinated by lay-run boards, committees, and the Church Council. Each member of the congregation helps make the decisions about worship services, educational programs, stewardship of resources, outreach and mission. Individuals of all ages are important at our church.

Adult Education courses are offered at a variety of times during the year, and include book and film discussion groups, Bible studies, and support groups.

Social groups include Women's League, Quilters, Men's Breakfast, and faith and fitness exercise groups. All groups welcome new members and guests.
